Back in the mid-2000s, two very obscure anthology horror anime titles aired on Japanese television. The first was the 11 episode series titled "Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales," which featured three tales of terror about horror stories from the feudal era of Japan. The third tale of this series revolved around a character called the Medicine Peddler, who was popular enough to launch his own series, "Mononoke." "Mononoke" ran for 12 episodes, covering five fear inducing stories with an interesting style of animation enhancing its narrative. Are these adventures worth traversing? Or should weary wonderers stay away? Watch to find out as I talk about the basics to each series in this new retrospective.
