Forty years ago, two starving comic book artists became friends and that is when magic happened. These men were Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. They came up with an idea that seemed so dumb, so crazy, that no one would be able to take it seriously. They both drew themselves a pair of turtles dressed up in ninja gear, calling it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a comic book was born. The comic was widely successful and eventually spawned off into a toyline that included a cartoon series to help sell the toys. Due to it needing to appeal to kids, gone were the adult themes and noir-like elements, and in are cartoony tropes and fourth wall breaks. However, that doesn’t make it bad, it just makes it different. Is the first season to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a solid premier, or should you dump it in the sewers? Watch to find out!
