Ultraman R/B marked the end of the Heisei era for Ultraman as Emperor Akihito stepped down from his throne to enjoy retirement. His son, Naruhito became the newest emperor in May of 2019, bringing about the Reiwa era of Japan. Therefore, Tsuburaya’s next series, Ultraman Taiga, would be the first show in Japan’s newest monarchy featuring the son to Ultraman Taro.
